QUEST FOR A KELPIE

Jeannie Main is a tough wee fisher lass in Nairn in 1745/6, during Bonnie Prince Charlie’s attempt to win the British crown, which ended at the Battle of Culloden.  A gypsy warns her of a greater fate than she expects.  Why should she four times come near hanging?  How can she, a poor working girl, decide the fate of two kings?  And how, and why, should she try to ride the Kelpie, the great water monster?

Also available in Large Print - see Specials pages.  And I’m recording it for an audio book!

This was my first book, which won a competition and started me out as a writer.

It’s fast-moving and full of adventure – great fun.

My very first fan letter was from a boy, so it must be good!

           QUEST FOR A MAID

‘When I was nine years old, I hid under a table and heard my sister kill a king.’  In a chilling tale of magic and murder in the late 13th century, Meg, a Viking’s daughter, with her big servant lad Peem and the boy she’s betrothed to, wee hare-lipped Davie Spens, struggles in love and kindliness to save little Margaret, called the Maid of Norway, grand-daughter of the dead King, from Lady Marjorie de Brus, who is ruthlessly clearing the way for her son Robert to become the next King of Scots – with the help of Meg’s witch sister.

Don’t buy this one if witchcraft bothers you. Very few copies left.
